How to Go From Pet Photo to Cartoon
In this tutorial, we'll show you how easy it is to transform any pet portrait into a cartoon. It only takes a few seconds!
Step 1: Upload a Photo
Ready to turn your pet into a cartoon? Head to the Cartoonizer™ and open your pet photo to get started.
There are heaps of cool cartoon effects to choose from, and you can select each one to sample how it will look on your pet’s portrait.
Note that If you want to sample our popular Cartoonizer DLX effect, simply navigate to the Artsy menu on the left-hand side of the screen, followed by Digital Art.
You’ll notice when you click on an effect, three options are available: Settings, which allows you to alter the effect further; Cancel, which cancels the selected effect; and Apply, which applies the effect as-is. You can also adjust the strength of the effect using the slider.
Step 2: Adjust the Cartoon Effect
To further adjust your Cartoonizer™ effect, click Settings. For this tutorial, we’ve selected Cartoonizer™ GFX 2. You can then alter multiple aspects of this effect, including Fidelity, Sharpness, and Variation.
Fidelity refers to how closely a copy resembles the original image without losing detail.
Sharpness refers to how sharp or smooth the cartoon image will appear. Variation, on the other hand, allows you to toggle through several different variations of your image with the same effect applied to it. For example, each variation will feature differences in linework and shading.
You can also isolate your chosen cartoon effect to just the background or subject of your photo, if you choose. To do this, click on the Select tab and select just Foreground or Background underneath Apply To.
Once you’re happy with your changes, click Apply.
Step 3: Save Your Pet Photo
When you’ve finished editing your pet portrait, click the Save button at the top of the page, then select your desired save location and file type.
We recommend saving your cartoon pet portrait as a PDF file in Print Quality so it remains the highest quality for printing and displaying!
