Create a Photo Collage Banner for Any Platform

The banner space on your social media, blog, or website is more important than you might think. On personal websites and online storefronts, banners are the first thing your viewer sees. While social media profile pictures display very small, about 100-300px, social media banners are usually around 1000 pixels wide and 500 pixels tall. This means that a digital banner is one of your first chances to show off your brand, product, or personality. So how do you take advantage of all that space?
One of the simplest methods for creating an effective digital banner is to make a photo collage. By combining multiple images, text, and your signature color palette you can show your audience exactly what your page or account is about as soon as they click on your page.
The Collage Maker allows you to easily stitch together multiple photos, text, and graphics into a single banner image. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to use the Collage Maker to create an eye-catching digital collage banner for any platform.
How to Make a Free Digital Collage Banner
Making a collage banner for your website or social media is as simple as opening the Collage Maker, uploading the images you want to use, and adding some text and additional graphics if necessary. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to create a basic photo collage banner.
Step 1: Choose a Photo Collage Layout
Once you’ve opened up the Collage Maker, choose a Layout depending on how many images you want to use. Keep in mind the orientation of the images when you’re picking a layout, or alternatively, use the Collage Wizard to organize your collage for you. X banners are wider than they are tall, so we’re focusing on Wide layouts.

Step 2: Adjust the Banner Size and Color
Next, head over to the Customize tab and resize your canvas according to the optimal dimensions for whatever platform you’re using. Here we’re creating an X or Twitter header, which according to the X profile photo guidelines should be 1500 x 500 pixels. For most platforms, you can also click the drop-down menu of sizes and templates.

While in the Customize tab, you can also adjust the spacing between images and change the color of your collage background. Make sure it aligns with the rest of your profile’s color scheme, or your brand color palette, if applicable.
Step 3: Upload and Arrange Your Images
Now it’s time to upload images from your computer into the Image Manager and add them to your collage. You can delete cells by right-clicking the canvas, and rearrange photos by simply dragging and dropping.

This is an X account for film history and reviews, so we’re focusing on some iconic movie stills. These work well together, but if you find that some of the photos in your collage don’t look cohesive, you can click any image to edit it in the Photo Editor.
Step 4: Add Text and Graphics
Now’s your chance to add text, your brand logo, or additional hand-drawn graphics to your collage banner. Here we’ve used the Text tool and added a background to the text so that the words stand out against the collage.

You can look up any vector graphic in BeFunky’s Graphics Library using the Search Graphics tool. Here we searched up “film” and used an iconic clapperboard graphic to emphasize the theme of the account.

Step 5: Save It!
Your photo collage banner is just about ready to use! Click the Save button at the top of the page and make sure to save as a high-quality PNG for the best web and mobile resolution.

And that’s it. In just a few clicks, your collage social media banner is ready to use. And with the Collage Maker's intuitive resizing options, it's easy to adjust your banner for any other platform.

When to Use Digital Collage Banners
Banners exist all over the internet: Header images on blogs, feature images on social media, and as ads hosted on other websites. Here are just a few ways you can use collage banners for your digital marketing or personal social media.
Social Media Profiles
Collages make great banners for social media platforms like X/Twitter, Facebook, and Bluesky because they let you showcase multiple images that are relevant to your account. Potential followers don’t need to scroll far (or at all) to understand what your content is about, giving you a leg up in the attention economy. You can also use collage banners for professional websites like LinkedIn, where you can showcase work you’ve done in the past and the top companies you’ve worked for.

For personal social media accounts, the ideal collage banner gives viewers a taste of your personality and interests. If you’re running a brand account, it’s the perfect time to draw an audience in with brand storytelling and highlights of your product lineup. And for professional accounts, you can use a collage banner to stand out among the competition.
Blogs and Portfolios
Banner images often show up at the top of every page on a blog or personal website. If you’re a blogger, try using a collage full of eye-catching photos related to your top posts, or a few simple images combined with your blog logo. You can even include a quote in your blog’s header using the Collage Maker’s text tool.

If you’re an artist with a large portfolio, you can showcase your best work in the banner image of your portfolio home page. Potential clients can quickly get a sense of your style and skill set, saving them time and increasing their chance of engaging with you.
Online Stores and Ads
If you’re running a business, you can use collage banners to display your flagship products or services alongside your small business logo. This is applicable for Etsy shops, your own online storefront, and any other sites or apps where you’re marketing your business.

Collages are also great for banner ads because you get to display multiple products even if you’re paying for a single ad. Just drop all the images you want to use into the Collage Wizard, resize the collage to the optimal ad size, and you’re good to go.
Make Your Own Collage Social Media Banner
There are a ton of creative ways to use a collage for your social media banner or website header, whether you’re a content creator, a working professional, a small business owner, or just looking to add some flair to your social media account.
