Portrait Relight works best on human subjects – preferably from the shoulders up. Your subject should feature clear outlines, be well-focused, and have proper composition. These factors allow our AI to seamlessly replace the background of your portrait and create an optimal lighting setup. Note that this tool doesn’t perform its best when faced with non-human subjects or photos with poor lighting, sharp contrast, or lack of focus. However, it may be possible to achieve your desired results with some post-processing adjustments.

Here’s how to completely relight your portraits in just a few seconds. Portrait Relight is located within the Effects tab. You’ll find an assortment of effects that cover every lighting scenario – from bright neon cityscapes to dramatic studio shoots. Once you settle on one, the AI Relight tool will automatically remove and replace the background of your photo according to your chosen relight setup. (You can toggle the preset background on/off by checking the Original Background box.) Next, apply Portrait Relight as-is or adjust the effect manually. Change the lighting origin, experiment with colors, enhance the intensity, increase saturation, fine-tune highlights and shadows, or selectively apply as needed.
