great for networking and making a good first impression.BeFunky’s Business Card Maker makes it simple to create free business cards with our professionally designed templates.
What Info Should You Include On a Business Card?
When filling out your business card, it's best to keep it simple! The basics are your name (obviously), profession or field of work, up-to-date contact details, and a link to your portfolio or website (if relevant). We have a whole article that dives into the specifics, so check that out for some solid tips and tricks.
How to Customize Free Business Card Templates
Designing custom business cards is simple, especially with BeFunky’s free business card templates. When you are ready to start creating a custom business card design, head to BeFunky’s Business Card Maker to get started.
Step 1: Choose a Business Card Template
To start the design process, choose the layout you want to start with by clicking on it and then selecting Use This Template. Choose a design that best represents your brand, but know that you can customize it to match your aesthetic. We're going with a horizontal business card design. But if you see a paid template that you prefer to be vertical, it's easy to resize from the Customize tab for free!
BeFunky includes both front and back templates for each business card design. This makes it easy to divide information and make sure your card stands out from the rest. Let’s begin with the front.
Step 2: Add Your Brand Colors
Next, customize the color scheme of your business card to fit your brand colors or personal aesthetic. We also have a great article that goes over how to create a color palette, if you need help deciding! To do this, select Customize in the left-hand menu. Select the first color swatch to change the background color.
After you change the background color, select any graphics on your business card to adjust the colors in the Graphic Properties menu that appears. You can change this by selecting a new color for the Fill option.
Step 3: Personalize the Text
After this, you will customize your text by double-clicking on the text in your business card design and typing in your text. When you select a textbox, a Text Properties menu will appear on the left. Here, you can change the font, font color, letter spacing, and more.
If you want to reposition anything on your design, click and drag the element to do so.
Step 4: Customize the Graphics
From here, we are going to customize the graphics so that you can change a free business card template into the elevated business card design you have in mind.
To start, I am going to reposition the graphic that is already on my template.
Next, I will add more elements from the Graphics tab in the left-hand menu. Select Search Graphics to find graphical elements that will fit your new design. All you have to do is select them and they will automatically be added to Your Graphics. Note that you can also upload your own logos for free!
Click and drag the graphic onto your design. With the graphic selected, you can adjust the color overlay and size, or add a drop shadow!
This is the part that I like to have fun with – playing with different ideas, orientations, and colors until I feel it is just right.
Step 5: Save Your New Business Card
Once your business card is how you like it, click Save at the top of the page. You’ll be presented with several options for saving your business card design.
I recommend saving your business card to your computer as a PDF to keep it high-resolution for printing. To do this, select Computer, followed by PDF and Print.
Also, make sure to select Save as Project if you'd like to come back in the future to make any changes.
Step 6: Repeat Steps for the Back of Your Business Card Design
After you’ve designed the front of your business card, it is time to select the matching back design in the business card templates. Repeat steps 1-4 to have a back design. When you send your design to the printer, you will send them both the front and back design so that they can print it correctly for you.
How to Print Business Cards at Home
If you want to skip sending your business cards to the printer, you can also print your business cards at home! All you need is some high-quality paper and a printer that can print front and back. This is a great cost-effective way to print your business cards. For more help on how to print from home, check out this article.
The great thing about printing from home is that there are no minimum orders and the cost of printing decreases significantly.
