27 Reasons Moms Totally Rock!
When people ask about my role model, I have an easy answer: My Mom. Without getting all sappy on you, I’ll give you the short and sweet. My mom is the most amazing woman in my life. She’s raised five kids (a pair of twins and a set of triplets!), still works her full-time job as a Special Ed teacher, and is craftier than the Cake Boss when it comes to making desserts.
That’s not to say she hasn’t spared me the embarrassing moments (I still sometimes cringe when thinking back to those high school days), don't you? But I think moms are the coolest chicks in the world and all of they fall (biological, adoptive, in law, you name it), on this equal level of awesomeness!
Here are my reasons why moms are unlike anyone else.
1. Her Hugs Are Unbeatable
“A mother's arms are more comforting than anyone else's.” –Diana, former Princess of Wales
2. She Has Impeccable Timing
From that “good luck” text before a big interview to that “you’ll have fun tonight” before a first date, her words make you instantly confident.
3. She Works ’Round The Clock
A recent survey conducted by Care.com found that working mamas spend an average of 37 hours per week working (in the office, that is), and an average 80 hours per week on chores, childcare, and home responsibilities. You do the math.
4. She’s A Real-Life Recipe Box
Can’t remember all the ingredients to that apple cherry pie you enjoyed as a kid? Mom’s got the answer. Heck, she’s got the whole family cookbook memorized.
5. She’s Your Guaranteed Valentine. Every. Single. Year.
Admit you look forward to that care package in the mail each February.
6. She’s A Force To Be Reckoned With
"To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power." –Maya Angelou
7. She Has A Certain Scent
And that smell holds the key to every sweet memory you have of her.
8. She’s Your #1 Cheerleader
In everything you do. Yes, even when you threw a temper tantrum in the middle of the tee-ball field. OK, maybe that last part was just me.
9. (In Most Cases) She Rules The House
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, out of about 12 million single parent families in 2014, more than 80 percent were headed by single mothers.
10. She Cares About Your Looks More Than You
Which is why, growing up, she said she’d “kill you” if you came home with [insert any type of body piercing or body art].
11. She’s Superwoman—Literally!
Take Angela Cavallo, for example, who lifted her son’s 3,500-pound Chevrolet Impala to save him when he was pinned underneath it in 1982. Or Lydia Angiyou, who in 2006, fought a polar bear to protect her family.
12. She Always Forgives, No Matter How Much You Screwed Up
“The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.” –Honoré de Balzac
13. She’s A Walking Pharmacy
Kleenex, toothpaste, granola bar, a greeting card? She’s got it in her purse.
14. She’s Not Afraid To Take Silly Pictures
Because she doesn’t care what anyone thinks.
15. At The Same Time, She Makes Technology Hilarious
Phone camera, text messages…you get the drift.
16. She Influences Your Awesomeness
Just look at Marie Curie, the only person who has ever won Nobel Prizes in both physics and chemistry. Decades later, her daughter Irene snagged a Nobel Prize for chemistry, too!
17. She Let’s Ya Lick The Batter Off the Bowl
Eggs Schmeggs.
18. She Doesn’t Sugarcoat Anything
“That strong mother doesn't tell her cub, Son, stay weak so the wolves can get you. She says, Toughen up, this is reality we are living in.” –Lauryn Hill
19. She Never Backs Down From A Challenge
Whether that be a marathon or navigating her kid's angsty teen years with a smile.
20. She Can Strike Fear Like Nobody Else
"Any child can tell you that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he's really in trouble." –Dennis Fakes
21. Two Words: Homemade Costumes

And you won every award because of it.
22. She Wears Rose-Colored Glasses
“It’s a funny thing about mothers and fathers. Even when their own child is the most disgusting little blister you could ever imagine, they still think that he or she is wonderful.” —Roald Dahl
23. She’s Your Built-In Shopping Bud
And most of the time can’t leave the mall without buying you something.
24. She Takes On The Title Wherever She Goes
“Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.” ―Robert A. Heinlein
25. She Makes Basic Tasks Hilarious
Which is why she’s always a joy to be around.
26. She Never Stops Saying “I Love You”
At the end of a call, during every text. Before—and after—she hugs you goodbye.
27. She’s Indescribable
All the words written above? They only slightly do her justice.
In addition to a Mother's Day card, or a beautiful Oil Painting of the two of you, feel free to pass this along to the mothers in your life.
