By Rach DePaoli | Photo Editor Tutorials

Halloween is a time to tap into your spooky side. From werewolves to vampires and every other creature and myth, this is the time of year to explore the mysterious unknown. Vampires have been a popular theme through the decades – something about these creatures captivates young and old audiences alike.

If you want to sink your teeth into a fun Halloween project, what better time than now to turn a portrait of yourself into a full-blown vampire? With BeFunky’s Halloween photo filters and effects, you can transform your portraits with AI into something spooky! It is really fun to change up your profile photo for different holidays or seasons. Let’s get started with the Fantasy Portrait category of the Photo Editor.

How to Turn a Portrait of Yourself Into a Vampire

We are going to show you how to use our Vampire AI generator to completely transform yourself into a vampire online! There are so many other spooky filters – such as ghosts, zombies, aliens, and frozen creatures.

Step 1: Select a Clear Portrait

We are going to start by heading to the Fantasy Portrait effects. Once you click on that link, select a portrait of yourself by clicking Open and then Computer. You can also drag and drop a portrait of yourself directly onto the canvas to begin. The photo should be a clear and well-taken portrait of your facial features.

Step 2: Apply the Vampire GFX Effect

Select the Vampire GFX effect. BeFunky will automatically get to work applying this effect to your portrait. To customize this effect further, select Settings.

From the Settings menu, you can adjust the Amount, Fidelity, and Variation sliders. Fidelity refers to how closely the effect mimics your original photo. Variation allows you to toggle through several different versions of your image. Our AI will produce multiple versions of the same effect for you to choose from. Each option will feature differences in aesthetics and texture. When you are finished choosing, select Apply.

More Ways to Customize Your Vamp Effect

There are so many spooky effects that you can add to your images to transform them for the Halloween season or just for fun! Here are three examples to inspire your photo transformations.

Create a Vintage Vampire Portrait

Plan out a shoot where you dress up in old Victorian-era costumes and transform yourself afterward with the Vampire GFX effect. You will produce a sultry vampire that is from the time when vampires ran rampant through old towns.

Apply a Gothic Castle Background

Before you apply the Vampire GFX effect, use Background Remover to replace the background with a different scene. You can replace it with an image of bats or an old creepy castle!

Use the Ghost Story Lighting Effect

Portrait Relight gives a ton of great lighting options for your portraits. I love using the Ghost Story one after applying the Vampire GFX effect to give it some spooky texture and lighting.
